Eer .. nope. the wheels are almost in place, engine sits in ... just weld a bucket bottom up to the drivers seat and add in battery and you are trail ready mate. :)

Jez, if you want to survive Ladoga trophy, you should first try MUDFACE Trophy 26-27 April,2008, close to Tallinn. This year it will be the Training Day for the Ladoga towtrucks. ;)

check out the last year http://www.fff.ee/muda/

That looks like fun - its a very professional looking video! - we made a really bad one last year (we are better with metal than cameras) Flying Spanners Vid link

It would be nice to come and get some time to test the car but I dont think we will make it this year - I look at the list of jobs to do before Ladoga and I dont know if we will be ready even by then! when we finish the car it will end up living in Finland so it should be easier to come over to Estonia to race in future, we hope that in 2008 we can get to Vepski Les and anything else we can fit in?!? Im looking forward to sitting by a fire in the woods with friends and a little vodka after a muddy day :D

we got some more done last night but I forgot to take my camera - I will put some more pictures up this evening.

more pics

The roof has been cut and trimmed roughly to give us a more accurate shape to work with

more Tig welding.......

Vince made a swaging tool so we can put rills in the panel work to stop them rattling (I hate cars that rattle - its tough to be like that when you own a landrover though! )
Pilt

I made the hoop for the back and got it fixed in the right place - in England everyone is obsessed with building traybacks, I think they look crap so we will make the back look like a cut and dovetailed Landrover series pickup (just need to do a load of aluminium panelling and welding)

The wheels have arrived at my friends place in Utah - she sent me a picture, the guys that make our wheels thought it would be cool to cut the team logo into the rock rings 8) ....... double internal beadlocks - yummy :)

we have some aluminium coming tomorrow so the doors and floors can be made, then I get to start on the fuel tank, hydraulic tank, airbox, glovebox, lockers, etc etc Mike will start to build the bonnet tomorrow night as well - it should look cool hopefully

whaddya think?

Terve Skirt Monkey!

not so much got done last night - a couple more panels in the floor and the design for the footwells and airbox, I had to organise shipping some stuff from America, sending some stuff to Finland for the team and checking some fuel system parts, it seems they sent me the wrong thing :(

a few sheets of aluminium will come today so I can start making the fuel tank and the hydraulic tanks, the footwells, and the airbox, and the glove box, and the doors.......... hmm, I think we need to work a lot faster now

Mike comes tonight to make fibreglass parts for the airscoop and John comes with his tape measure to work out how much electrical cable he needs to "find" from work 8)

lots of talk about what to make the front of the car look like - this seems to be winning at the moment :? its the same frame we used to make the mould for "Petal's" bonnet... it just needs a few little changes
Pilt

maybe it will look to much like our old car?

Why waste time building a new one then ?

its a good question but in short; A Russian guy bought my old car - I need something to drive so I must build a new one! a little bit lighter, a little bit faster

Hopefully when we move home we can build/modify offroad cars for a living instead of just as a hobby

we couldnt find any door hinges that fit so we made our own
Pilt

made a frame from pieces of scrap aluminium,

then put a skin on of 1.6mm sheet - the door is very light but its pretty strong, its just not a lot of fun to weld  the top part of the door can wait to be made until the winter

How thick is your radiator for engine?I'm thinking same way to mount the radiator behind the seats but my idea was putting two about the same size radiators as yours.
