Loen mina infot ja mida hirmutavam ja jaburam see on, seda suurem mineku tahtmine tekib.....
Paar väljavõtet ka teile....
ˇ What sorts of maps are available?
The best maps available to buy for us mere general public are called Tactical Pilotage Charts (TPC). These are made by the American military and have a 1:500 000 scale. They are a touch big or small (i can never remember which way round that is) so if you use them, you'll end up with hundreds of maps. They are also not road maps but geographical maps. So all in all they are useless
For most of the route a road atlas is fine. (it will be woefully inacurate though, especially when it calls things roads). Every single map sold of Mongolia is wrong. This is not a joke it is actually very true. One of the few teams not to get lost had not maps of Mongolia at all! E.g. the International Travellers Map (the best avaliable in most shops including Stanfords (they do sell TPC if you ask)) is comically wrong. It's worth buiying just to marvell at how wrong maps can be. Get a map of Mongolia if you want, it's sometimes helpful see where the towns are. But many of the towns have the wrong names and all of the roads are very wrong.
The best way to navigate is to drive from yurht to yurht asking directions. It's much more fun.
It is illegal for foreigners to use GPS in Russia, so don't bring one. How are you going to get lost with a GPS. BOO for GPS. I'm going to fine any team that wants to bring GPD Ŗ1000 extra pounds for charity. And we will search your cars.
ˇ Will I definately get to Mongolia?
No, what would be the point of that?

Meie tingimustes on praim lahendus kindlasti NL Genstaabi kaardi hankimine vajalike piirkondade kohta (NL armee kaarditas ju kunagi kogu maakera ära). Isegi Rebaseonu sõidab Aafriaks selle järgi. Tõsi, andmed küll paarkümmend aasatat vanad, kuid vähemalt täpsuse suhtes ei tohiks probleeme olla.volts kirjutas: ˇ What sorts of maps are available?

Noniih, vaheapeal on plaanid kindlamaks ja selgemaks saanud. Nüüd aga tekkis küsimus, et kust oleks võimalik saada ajalike kaarte selliste riikide kohta nagu:
Armeenia
Aserbaidaan
Türkmenistan
Usbekistan
Tadikistan
Kõrgõztan
Kasahstan
Venemaa(tegelt Venemaad tuleks ilmselt ainult ca 100 km Kasahstanist Mongooliasse üle lõigates)
